Desert Rain
The olive oil in this soap has been infused with leaves from the Creoste bush (or Chaparral leaves), native to the Southwestern USA and Northern Mexico. If you have ever been in the desert after a rain, you know the earthy, warm scent of the Creosote bush.
While the olive oil infused with the Creosote leaves smells so beautifully of the desert, the saponification of the soap only leaves a very faint scent.
Creosote is estimated to be one of the oldest plants on earth. The olive oil in the recipe for this soap was infused with the Creosote leaves for two months before making of the soap. While I live in Michigan, I am from Arizona and spend time there every year. The smell of a desert on a warm, drizzly afternoon is near to my heart.
The soap batter is lovely green once the infused olive oil is added, then the soap turns the earthy brown in the final curing. While the scent is faint, all the goodness of the Creosote infused oil is in the soap.
Protect and extend the life of your soap by keeping dry between uses. A wooden soap dish is a great way to keep your soap dry between uses.
